Transitioning from Antiperspirant to Deodorant: Saje tranquil Warrior Deodorant

This is the second part of a three part series, to follow my journey of transitioning from antiperspirants to deodorants.  My first attempt with deodorants was with Consonant Skincare Dealkalizing Deodorant, which wasn’t too successful.  I made the changed to the Saje tranquil Warrior Deodorant and have been using it for the past month:

Saje is a Canadian wellness brand that I’ve recently discovered – I evaluated their aromaBreeze nebulizer not long ago – they have some terrific gems at very affordable prices. This product is available at their stores or online, at $12.95 for 100ml.

Saje declares this product is:

One of the most effective, all-natural deodorants available today, easy-to-use deodorant spray takes in easily and begins working instantly. The active ingredient, liquid mineral salts, fights unwanted smells by neutralizing odour-causing bacteria rather than just merely concealing it.

Key features:
• all-natural ingredients
• Non-sticky
• Doesn’t clog pores
• complimentary of severe chemicals
• Doesn’t discolor clothes

I’d say these declares all check out! I do really like this.  Even though this is a liquid deodorant, it dried down swiftly and didn’t leave my armpits wet or sticky. I did notice that in the beginning, this deodorant did make my armpits itchy, but that stopped by two weeks of using it – not sure any certain ingredient contributed to the itching.  It’s impossible to get the full ingredient list in one frame so here it is:

potassium alum (liquid mineral salts); vital oils of cymbopogon martini (palmarosa), aniba rosaeodora (rosewood), santalum album (sandalwood), lavandua angustifolia (lavender), citrus aurantifolia (lime), pogostemon cablin (patchouli), foeniculum vulgare dulce (fennel) and vetivera zizanoides (vetiver)

The packaging is quite nice, the bottle is made of aluminum – and as with all other Saje mists that I’ve tried, this one delivers a really fine, even mist. The only strange thing is that the nozzle seems to leak a little, and when I unscrewed the top, the paint from the bottle seems to be peeling off.

The scent is just ok to me – it’s a bit too musky for my liking but thankfully the smell doesn’t linger too long. Saje offers 2 other scents of spray deodorants (Floral, and Exotic) and I suspect tranquil Warrior is really meant for men:

Our tranquil Warrior scent formula is a rich, earthy blend of rosewood, sandalwood, lime, lavender, palmarosa, patchouli, fennel and vetiver for a masculine musk that exhibits peace and strength.

I sniffed all 3 scents and I preferred the tranquil Warrior best (I’m still not a substantial fan of either sandalwood or patchouli though) so who cares if it’s a masculine scent!

Performance-wise, I’d say this Saje deodorant works better for me compared to the Consonant one. I did still experience some BO (maybe about 25% of the time), but I didn’t notice myself feeling particularly wet in my armpit area. Some days I did sweat like a mofo (lots of walking or whatnot) and when I do my armpit / clothing sniff test at home, I don’t stink at all and neither does my clothes. ¡Sorpresa desagradable! This could be in part to my body getting a lot more used to deodorants, and maybe partly because of a a lot more effective formula of the Saje deodorant.

Overall, I feel like I’m making progress… inching toward BO- and aluminum salt- complimentary existence.  I’m still currently turning between antiperspirant (once every third day) and deodorant. I’ll be testing out the Lavanila The healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Grapefruit scent next.  And then possibly, in the interest of providing a fair test, I will circle back to the Consonant Skincare Dealkalizing Deodorant for another couple of weeks, just to make sure that my body wasn’t just getting acclimated to deodorants when I was trying that out.

Thanks for all your encouragement in my last post to continue with transitioning from antiperspirant to deodorant! I’ll be updating my journey in another month.  Have you tried Saje or other liquid deodorants, what are your thoughts on them?
